Trains

The railroad tracks runs on the north side of town with three crossing within a mile. The train whistles blow for each crossing, and I swear, extra toots. I have not counted the number of trains that pass through in a 24 hour period. But there are several. I have noticed the whistles are different and the "styles" that they are blown are different. One would think in this automated day and age it would all be the same. Possibly each line has a different one. Anyway, I am glad they are different for when I do pay attention.

Made me wonder about the old days and these lyrics.

The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
