Another Lesson Learned - I Hope

Just did not feel like blogging for a couple of days. Went to start the Baby Truck Wed. afternoon and it would not start. Finally turned over for a minute, sounded terrible. Called the mechanic and he was just swamped. He said he would call when he could get to me. I went out later and tried again. Nothing. Lifted the hood and was just aghast! Evidently had left the cover off when I had added oil prior to my trip south. It was still perched on the air filter cover. Needless to say, figured I was sunk. (My language was really bad at that point.) Added oil and prayed a lot. Did not want to hear any bad news (the old bury your head in the sand syndrom) and waited for him to get back to me. He did not call me Thursday either.

This morning he called with an apology. Had misplaced my note and when a client with a similar name called he contritely apologized. She said it wasn't her that had called him. A light went off and he called me. Well, he was coming by so I went out and tried to start it and it did start. Called and told him, he came by anyway. So far, it is running.

I promise you, I will double check EVERYTHING I do to her in the future.

Oh, yes, I felt that after the inital shock, let the stressful feelings flow by whenever they reared their heads. But still did not want to blog.

Had to Turn it Down

Received an invitation for New Year's Eve in the heart of Texas...aaaaagh, or however Charlie Brown and crew said it...had to tell them I was back in Noteveragain Land. I have no plans for New Years Eve.

I must admit working on relieving stress is helping some. May get my "ball" today or tomorrow. I have been warned to be careful with them.

Last night moved back and forth between watching the Game Channel on the computer and a Harry Potter movie on the DVD. Really enjoying the dvd player, just hope I do not turn into a sloth!
Even looked at Netflix. I would be a sloth then..Maybe if we get really snowed in that may be a consideration.

So Sad

The tragedy in southeast Asia is sad. All I can say about relief effort is, don't run anything through the U.N. It will only line someone's pockets.

Will be continuing to get things in order here. I started doing some straightening in the kitchen last night. Threw old items out and did a little rearranging. Not asking this time, just doing. Mom said nothing. Hopefully will continue in that mode for the next couple of months. If I am lucky, will get to take another 3 weeks or so down south the month of March.

I watched "Under the Tuscan Sun" yesterday and enjoyed it. Certainly could relate to her early feelings of being alone and wondering if love would ever show up.

Received notification that my Amazon order had shipped, at least part of it. Now, will I be disciplined enough to stay on an exercise schedule?
Did go to my "Work in Progress" folder and did a little writing done yesterday.

Drats!!

Still not feeling good. Don't know what the problem is.

It is in the low 20's this a.m.

Have not had coffee yet, maybe that will get the cobwebs out of the cranial space and dissipate some fog.

Day After

I was very fortunate that I did not have to drive or cook Christmas Day. My nephew and his wife brought most of the dinner out. Thought it would be too cold for Mom to be out. I picked up a pie, cranberry sauce and rolls to round it out. Was all tasty and good.

Had a great phone call today from David, my youngest son, who lives in Germany. They may be in San Antonio, end of Feb. through March 11..Yahoo...another road trip for me if the weather permits..

Now, getting into a schedule my next goal. I did get 2 tv's for Xmas and will use them both. Have a video and exercise ball on order so will have a mini work-out room in the north bedroom.

Must get back to the writing. Did make a few notes while gone but now must get "TO IT".

Hope all had a safe holiday.

Back

Got to Mom's house just before dark. Boy, it was a cold trip. The truck was cold, too, driving into the north wind.

I certainly have to do something about my attitude as it is not heatly.

Mom did fine while I was gone. Ordered groceries to be delivered, called and made an appointment with the podiatrist to take care of her toenail problem, enjoyed receiving the Meals on Wheels.....but, she still WANTS ME HERE..

I found a neat house while in Texas. Right on the river, about 2 hours from my daughter, just perfect. It would be mine except for one little problem, $$..smile Who says money can't buy happiness may be right but it is a much better way to be miserable.

Oh, yes, was about -2 this morning.....

Backwards Bound

On my return trip (a rough one to do, in reverse, so I keep facing South) I got to see my first snow of the year, in Texas.

Made it to Oklahoma City this afternoon. Hopefully the rest of this trip will be o.k. too. It will be bitterly cold and I am not looking forward to that.

Must go check the weather..will be back on a regular basis soon.

Merry Christmas and have a safe holiday to all who come this way.

Monday - On The Job

Baby sitting today and loving it! We are going to the movies at noon..seeing National Treasure. My eight year old GD loves history and is excited about the movie.

Then cooking a typical Texas dinner, Chicken Fried Steak, this evening. Really living in the moment and will deal with the dreaded heading North moment when it arrives!

Still In Texas

Put off the dreaded return to NE two more days. Will babysit granddaughter for two days before her mom gets off work for the holiday. Made the call to Ne to inform Mom and she wasn't too happy.

Weather will be really cold when I get back. Think my return day is predicted to be around 12 for the high!!

Rockport

A good trip from San Antonio to Rockport yesterday. Stopped and checked on a property about 2 hours out of SA. Sure wish Mom would move! right on the river and a neat little house with an extra lot. Privacy fence and on the water. Wow, I would love it.

Got into Rockport and my friend and her hubby were taking a couple of business associates from out of state to an old stomping ground out on Mustang Island. Well, it was old home week for me, as we ended up in an icon joint visiting with old fishing friends from eons ago. There are only a couple of these places left as they are being bought up to make room for new touristy stuff. Had a couple of beers and a really good time! Man, I needed that.

Was a little rough driving through ex s.o. town. Too many thoughts but I made it OK.

Don't Want to Go Back

Still in San Antonio, will probably go to the coast tomorrow for just a couple of days. Had some more sickness but doing O.K. Enjoying the granddaughters.

Have received good feedback on the few pages I brought with me but now, dreading heading back to Nebraska next week.

Better

Feelin' somewhat better. Not sure just why but being in Texas MUST have something to do with it. I am in the Hill Country outside of Kerrville, Tx and loving every minute of it.
Went to see a play last night and had a few really good laughs.

Going to cook today and otherwise, just chill out..Wow, does it feel great!

Further South

A day late leaving OK City. Between mild vertigo and generally not feeling up to part, will hit the road to Hunt Tx in a few.

It has been nice, tho, just to kick back for a couple of days.
